About Us

The education and training program carried out in the Department of Economics brings together the basic concepts of economics, basic methods, basic problems and current developments related to Turkey and the world economy. Academic staffing  was created on the basis of these: Economics Theory, Economics Policy, Economic History, Economic Development and International Economics.

The economic program pursued in the department covers the analysis of economic problems related to the country and the world economy within the framework of the theoretical developments and different economic approaches. As far as the theory is concerned, the current issues related to implementation are also discussed.

The graduates of the Department of Economics can work in governmental  institutions such as Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Customs and Trade, Undersecretariat of Treasury of the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Turkey, Capital Markets Board, Ministry of Development, Turkish Statistical Institute, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Public Procurement Authority and Energy Market Regulatory Authority. They also work in the Ministry of Tourism, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the Ministry of the European Union, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, there is a wide range of job opportunities in the banking and finance sectors.

Graduate programs include Economic Development and Growth (with Master's Degree), International Economics (with Master's Degree), Economics Policy (with Master's Degree), Economics  Theory (with Master's Degree) and Economics (with Doctorate).


There are 13 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors, 1 Instructor (Ph.d.), 7 Research Assistants (Ph. D.) and 17 Research Assistants in the Department of Economics. 

 
The students of the Department of Economics have the opportunity to benefit from double major and minor applications among the departments in Gazi University. In addition, agreements made by the University of Gazi make it possible for the students of the Economics Department to study abroad at a higher education institution with the Erasmus program.
